Global Education Information Session

Attend this session to learn how to strengthen your applications for Study Abroad and scholarships. The Office of Global Engagement at UGA offers academic opportunities in over 60 countries, as well as domestically. Attend this session to learn more.

Graduate Student Success Workshop

"You're still in school?": A First-Generation Graduate Student's Guide to Surviving and Thriving in the Academy

In this workshop, graduate students will learn about the challenges that first-generation graduate students face in academia. Students will be challenged to reflect on their personal experiences and identify the personal, departmental, institutional, and community resources they will pursue to survive and thrive in graduate school.

Graduate Student Success Workshop

Q & A Panel: Gaining Insights from Upper-Level, Graduate School, Students & Insiders

Attend this information session to ask questions and learn more about various aspects of graduate school at UGA.  Aspects may include acclimating to American society, the US system and standards of higher education, navigating the hidden (graduate school) curriculum, choosing / changing your major professor, and understanding some of the practical issues of food, housing, assistantships, research expectations, and summer employment opportunities.

Keep Hope Alive, Financial Aid Information Session

Attend this information session to ask questions and learn more about various types of student financial aid available, what is required to maintain the HOPE scholarship, and how to find your HOPE GPA.

How to "Show and Tell": Presentation Aids for Public Speaking

In this workshop, students will learn how to effectively use presentation aids (i.e., Powerpoint, visual aids, interactive activities) when delivering a successful speech or group presentation.

Academic Honesty at UGA

Students will learn from UGA’s Office of Academic Honesty about policies and strategies to avoid problems using technologies like Quizlet, CourseHero, Chegg, and GroupMe.

Graduate Student Success Workshop

Innovating Your Humanities Degree in Higher Education Administrative Careers

Since 2008, the public-at-large and even some individuals inside higher education have fixated on the so-called "decline of the humanities" and the unpromising prospects of careers for humanities majors. This idea exchange will engage current (and prospective) humanities graduate students at the University of Georgia in dialogue on the skills and competencies refined through humanities graduate education and the possibilities of deploying the strengths of a humanist education in higher education administration.

Nonverbal Communication in Public Speaking Events

In this workshop, students will learn more about nonverbal communication within the public speaking space.  Students will be provided nonverbal strategies and skills that promote a successful speech,  presentation, or group project presentation.

I, too, am UGA: Finding Resiliency through Transitions to College (and in Life)

The "I, too, am UGA" workshop is intentionally designed for once-upon-a-time transfer students, now full-time UGA Bulldogs who want to: learn more about UGA resources, network with fellow former transfers, and, engage in an inclusive conversation about how the transitions (with challenges and opportunities) they experienced in getting to UGA can be leveraged to finish degree(s) and move to life beyond the University. Participants will leave the workshop with the beginnings of a personal statement highlighting the resilience evidenced by their transition experience.
