Kellogg Scholars

ABOUT THE KELLOGG SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Kellogg Scholars Program is a need-based scholarship program for outstanding UGA students majoring in the College of Education (with preference to students in the Intended Early Childhood Education major). Generously funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the scholarship is renewable for up to seven semesters and comes with a variety of programs and resources to support student success. Partnerships with the College of Education and the Career Center ensure that students receive intentional support based on their interests. The program was launched in spring 2018 as part of the Commit to Georgia campaign. Read more here.

SELECTION PROCESS

All students who submit their financial aid application, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA via UGA Office of Student Financial Aid), are automatically reviewed for eligibility for the Kellogg Scholarship Program. The Office of Student Financial Aid will email students who are eligible to become a Kellogg Scholar and may request additional documents to verify their aid eligibility.

BEYOND A SCHOLARSHIP

While obtaining their degree at UGA, Kellogg Scholars will:

  • Enroll in a specially designed first-year UNIV course and third-year UNIV course
  • Meet regularly with the Coordinator of First-Generation & Scholars Programs, who will assist with transition issues, monitor academic progress, and serve as a reference to other services within the DAE, such as Academic Coaching or drop-in tutoring for UGA’s most challenging courses.
  • Engage in regular meetings with an assigned faculty/staff mentor from the College of Education who will help to navigate the College of Education and more specifically the requirements for the Early Childhood Education major.
  • Attend meetings as needed with a Career Center staff member, specifically assigned to Kellogg Scholars.
  • Experience informal peer mentoring with other cohorts of scholars at various events each semester, including academic and co-curricular programs, student success workshops, and social events.
