Service Learning
Each Freshman College student will enroll in UNIV 1201S: Learning for Success at the University, a service-learning course. Service-learning at the University of Georgia is the application of academic skills and knowledge to address a community need, issue, or problem and to enhance student learning. UNIV 1201S provides opportunities for students to acquire skills needed to seek and obtain a relevant career, engage in critical and creative thinking to make sound decisions and solve complex problems, and become effective learners throughout their lives.
The service-learning component will remain a key element of this course even with the move to online classes. Faculty members teaching this course will implement various strategies and modifications for students to have the opportunity to complete their service-learning requirements.
Students work and learn in a collaborative online class environment and engage with the community.
