What is a first generation college student?

A first generation college student is a student whose parents/guardian does not have a college degree.

Why should I apply to participate in the Early Start | Early Success program?

This program is an opportunity to begin your college career early with intensive support to assist you in your transition into the University of Georgia.

Can I use scholarship money and/or a Pell Grant to cover tuition costs?

Yes, students are able to use the Zell Miller and/or Hope Scholarship and Pell Grant to assist in paying for tuition.

Will I be automatically enrolled in TRiO Student Support Services?

As long as you meet all of the eligibility requirements and complete the necessary application for TRiO Student Support Services (SSS). Please remember that participation in the TRiO SSS program (or another Division of Academic Enhancement Scholars Program) is a requirement of the Early Start | Early Success program.
