International Student Resources
The Division of Academic Enhancement offers resources specifically for international students who are seeking assistance with writing and speaking.
Writing tutoring is one of our most popular services for international students. Appointments can be made by clicking on “Writing Center†in TutorTrac and then selecting either “Graduate†or “Undergraduate,†according to your student classification. During fall and spring semesters, tutoring is available by appointment in Milledge Hall, the Science Library, Aderhold Hall, and online, and our drop-in center is open in the MLC on Monday through Friday afternoons. Students can make individual appointments with our writing tutors, who can give them feedback on class papers, papers for publication, dissertations and theses. We do not intend to function as an editing service, but our tutors can give advice on how to make students’ papers clearer and stronger. Our ultimate goal is to help students learn how to become better writers.
ESL Conversation is an opportunity to meet with a native speaker of English to practice English conversation in groups of two or three. Appointments can be made by clicking on “Peer Tutoring Program†in TutorTrac and then selecting “ESL Conversation.†Appointments are available in our tutoring center in Milledge Hall. Our trained conversational English tutors are friendly and can help you speak with greater fluency and correctness in an informal environment. ESL conversation provides the setting for you to ask those questions you always wondered about, like how to respond to the greeting, “What’s up?†Our conversational tutors can be great informants about English and about American culture and college life in general.
