UNIV 1101: Success for Pre-Health Students at UGA and Beyond

This seminar will provide an introduction to varied majors, campus support systems, and study opportunities for health care careers. UNIV 1102: Learning to Learn

Designed primarily for freshmen and sophomores, this course focuses on effective college learning strategies such as note taking and test preparation. In this course you will learn basic ideas in learning theory and how these theories inform the practice of learning. We will also cover how to select and modify learning strategies based on the course, the academic tasks, and your own characteristics as a learner. UNIV 1103: Strategies and Life Skills Needed for Success

This course offers a collaborative learning environment that engages you in creative and critical thinking while strengthening individual learning skills and encouraging opportunities to seek and obtain a relevant and meaningful career. UNIV 1103S: Strategies and Life Skills Needed for Success

This course offers a collaborative learning environment that engages you in creative and critical thinking while strengthening individual learning skills and encouraging opportunities to seek and obtain a relevant and meaningful career. Course includes a service-learning project during the semester that either employs skills or knowledge learned in the course or teaches new skills or knowledge related to course objectives.

UNIV 1108: Introduction to Data Analysis (Drop Back from MATH 1101)

Offered as a preparatory course intended to be taken before MATH 1101, this class discusses the concepts of analyzing and describing real-world data using statistics, mathematical models, and other quantitative tools. UNIV 1110: Introduction to Pre-Calculus (Drop Back from MATH 1113)

This class offers a complete review of algebra and problem-solving techniques to prepare students for pre-calculus. Topics include factoring, solving equations and inequalities, rational, radical, exponential, and logarithmic functions, and graphing techniques. UNIV 1115: Introduction to Academic Writing (Drop Back from ENGL 1101)

This course reviews essential components of clear and effective academic prose such as grammar, usage, punctuation, and sentence structure, audience analysis, and writing style. UNIV 1120: Online@UGA: Digital Media Literacy

An introduction to digital media literacy. In addition to familiarizing students with the rich computing resources that the University provides, the course provides an introduction to digital media literacy, including the evaluation and creation of Web sites, blogs, short documentary films, and other forms of online media.
